2V0-41.24 – VMware NSX 4.x Professional V2 (VCP-NV)
Today I tried this exam. I had done some preparation and for anyone else trying this exam, a couple of pointers that were critical for me to get to a passing score. Of course, you also need to know the stuff about a lot of other things, but for me, that knowledge was already there.
I am talking about the more regular NSX stuff, like: Installation, Transport Nodes, Edge Nodes, Switching and Routing.
So the following were some of the topics that I spent some time on, to get a little bit more acquainted, since it is not something I have worked with, frequently.
CLI Syntax
First of all, know your syntaxes. Of course, you can go to: https://developer.broadcom.com/xapis/nsx-cli-guide/latest/ and go through there, but the most used and common commands are available here as well: https://www.simongreaves.co.uk/nsx-t-command-line-cheat-sheet/. It might be a little “old”, but there is still some very useful information in there.
NAT
Know how NAT works and which options of NAT are available and what the requirements are for the different functions. There have been some changes in that respect, since the earlier days of NSX, and for me, it was good to get a little refresher and update. I followed the Services chapter (which contains NAT) on the NSX ICM training (available On Demand from Broadcom, for qualified people (like Strategic or VCF customers, or Partners above Premier level, if I am correct)).

VPN
Same thing about VPN’s. For this I used the “VMware NSX: Troubleshooting and Operations [V4.x] – On Demand” training, available from Broadcom.

VRF Lite
Know how VRF Lite works. What you can and can’t do with it, how it interacts with other parts within the NSX environment. I had some experience with VRF Lite when I created this blog: https://my-sddc.net/holodeck-lab-multi-tenancy-routing-with-vrfs-in-nsx/.
Federation
Although not a huge topic, some requirements and relevant information is useful. In this case I, again, used the ICM training module to get a little extra information.
IDS/IPS
Know the structure, the components, and what you can and can’t do. For me, this was relatively new, so used the Advanced Threat Prevention module from the ICM training.
And for anyone preparing for the exam: Good Luck!
